THE PULSE Rwanda Ltd. and nOa climate sign a strategic commercial agreement for clean cooking in Rwanda

THE PULSE news – Kigali, May 13, 2022

THE PULSE Rwanda Ltd., a Rwanda based company that will manage a network of rural centers for business, services & leisure at the last mile (“THE PULSE Centers”), with the mission to connect and transform the micro-economies of rural Bottom-of-the-Pyramid (BoP) communities, announced today a partnership with nOa climate, a Germany based company that creates, sells and promotes a range of environmentally friendly products that ensure a healthy living for future generations.

THE PULSE Centers represent a physical partner platform at the last mile for complementary products and services across the needs of rural African communities, fostering synergies and reducing cost of ownership and cost of operation to boost each of THE PULSE partners’ revenues. In the pilot phase THE PULSE Rwanda Ltd. will establish 5 Centers that provide clean cooking solutions, food distribution & food security, sustainable access to water, retail & wholesale, finance, health, water, agriculture, leisure & entertainment, and other.

For hundreds of millions at last mile communities around the world cooking  is a dangerous activity. The use of wood and charcoal causes massive health problems and results in deforestation as well as increased emissions. Global climate goals won’t be met without greater focus on clean cooking; SE4All demands that “Clean Cooking Must Be a Global Right”. Rwanda is on the forefront of this demand and has announced a world-leading Clean Cooking Energy Compact at the UN Climate Change Conference in 2021 (COP26).

Against this backdrop, we are extremely proud to announce that nOa climate and THE PULSE Rwanda Ltd. have signed an agreement to implement at THE PULSE Centers state-of-the-art, low-cost waste recycling facilities that recycle between 10 to 100 tons of organic waste per day. With these systems organic waste from THE PULSE Centers and surrounding farms can be recycled into biogas, which then will be used at the restaurants within THE PULSE Centers. Moreover, organic fertilizer is produced, which will be distributed to smallholder farmers in the catchment area of the Centers.

Boris Civieta, Founder and General Manager of THE PULSE Rwanda Ltd., commented: “The agreement with nOa climate represents another milestone for us as it enriches the partner platform at our THE PULSE Centers with a crucial component: clean cooking. Converting bio-waste into biogas for cooking not only promotes the fight against deforestation, but it also demonstrates to the community working, clean alternatives that preserve their environment and – on top – is free of charge.

Francois De Wet, CEO of nOa climate, commented: “nOa climate GmbH is both humbled and thrilled to join forces with energy, climate and sustainability partners in THE PULSE Rwanda. A revolutionary concept that will modernize and energize trade centers throughout the country and beyond.”
